Does Fear Have Ahold of You?

Does fear have ahold of you? Do you feel stuck? Are you sitting in uncertainty? Maybe your plans fell through. Maybe something you’re trying really hard at is failing. Perhaps you’re lost or sitting in confusion and shame. We all have a story and we all face different obstacles in life.

So to whoever is reading this, I may not know what you’re facing, but I can assure you that you’re not alone. I can assure you that you are loved without a doubt by the most high God. His plan for your life will come about.

For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Having Hope during trials

I know what your facing seems to be never ending or inescapable and I would never discredit your feelings because I’ve been there. But, instead I want to offer you an encouraging perspective. This perspective is found in hope. Hope has been a word I believe God has been speaking over me. Over the last few months He has revealed this idea of “hope” to me in a variety of ways.

I have written in my journal, “internal hope doesn’t exempt people from setbacks and disappointments, but sustains them through setbacks and disappointments.” I don’t remember where I heard that, but WOW, that’s good! It’s through hope we can learn to embrace struggles. It provides encouragement during the waiting seasons. Hope can be such an awesome motivator. You’re accepting where you are at currently or what you’re facing, while having faith that God will see you through it, bringing you to something greater.

Persepective

I believe life boils down to perspective. Don’t pray to never have fear.. because let’s be honest we live in scary world and adversity is inevitable. Instead, pray for courage. Courage to look fear in the face and move through it. Courage to choose faith over fear. Do not let fear have ahold of you any longer.

When things fail, you don’t completely wither away because you are not rooted in that. You’re rooted in Christ. Embrace adversity and have hope, friends. The things of this world are temporary, but the promise we hold in Christ is eternal. Everything the devil threw your way, you’ve survived. And what you’re facing now, you shall survive that too. God hears you, keep praying. Keep seeking him, He has the great resurrecting power.

And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; character, hope.”

Romans 5:2-4

Friends, you’re not stuck… you may be committed to a thought pattern that keeps you stuck. 🕊

with love, Emilee
