Faith and Fear are Both Born in Uncertainty, Which Will You Choose?
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1
I have seen a lot of people start their year off by picking a word to focus on. While, I did not do this last year, I am able to reflect and say I would have chosen strength. Strength to push through everything the devil meant to keep me down. Strength to turn adversity into opportunity. But, this strength was not of my own. You see, I did not actually feel strong during different stages in 2020. But because of Jesus Christ I still had strength within me to keep going and have a different perspective.
But He said to me, “My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
For this year, my word is FAITH! (I wrote this in 2021)
As you may have read in my testimony, I struggled with fear and uncertainty. Especially, when I was trying to fill voids with things of this world. Obviously 2020 has taught us we can’t control what life throws at us. But, we CAN control how we respond and choose to look at things. So I came across something that made me really want to challenge myself this year…
Fear is expecting the devil to move, faith is expecting God to move.”
Choosing Faith Over Fear
I have no idea what is in store for me this year, but no matter what life throws at me, I am challenging myself to pick faith over fear every time! I have learned it’s completely okay to feel lost and confused at times. Feelings change, but God remains the same and for someone like me that’s comforting. It is comforting to know that when my feelings cloud my judgment, I serve a God who knows exactly what He has in store for me. I just have to be patient, communicate with, and trust him. 🖤
Patience is something my youngest brother informs me I need to learn
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
In the absence of answers faith is born. Of course, it’s not that easy and keeping our faith strong is not always a linear PROCESS.
Everything you’re going through is preparing you for what you’re asking God for. You just have to quit tripping while you’re in the PROCESS Because the PROCESS is necessary. You may not see it now, but when he gets you on the other side of it, you’re going to see exactly why it went that way and you’re going to be okay with it.” 🦋
Steve Harvey
So, here’s to putting our faith and trust in the Lord to move for us.
"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation." Romans 5:3-4
